Making a Contribution

These events involve a lot of donated time from a lot of individuals and donated materials and services from local companies, but it still cannot happen without financial contributions, too.  All we ask is a donation of $5 per person (and $2 donation for children 9 years and under for the child amusements) as you enter the festivities (parking is free).

Your donation helps to pay for the fireworks and event expenses.  The non-profit civic groups in Crozet are the ones that benefit from any money raised above the cost of the event.  Each year we’ve donated over $6,000 to local civic groups, including the Crozet Volunteer Fire Department, Western Albemarle Rescue Squad, Claudius Crozet Park, and the Crozet Trails Crew (among others), so please be generous.

  • You can contribute right now, online, by clicking on this link:  Donate to CIDC through Network for Good
  • Please put “CIDC donation” in the Designation box.

Of course, we appreciate all donations, but to boost our efforts to cover expenses, we have three leadership donor levels and we are hoping that you will show your support by becoming a lead patron this year.

  • For a gift of $500 or more, we will prominently display your company banner you provide at the entrance to the park during the event, identify your patron status in the Crozet Gazette and event handbill and provide you with ten passes to the celebration in the park as well as published thanks in the Crozet Gazette and the event handbill.
  • For a gift of $250 to $499, you will receive acknowledgment in the Crozet Gazette and event handbill and four passes to the celebration in the park.
  • And, for a gift of $100 to $249, you will receive two passes to the celebration in the park, published thanks in the Crozet Gazette and the event handbill.

June 29 will be here before you know it.  Won’t you join us by contributing whatever you can afford?  If being a lead patron is too much, please send whatever you can afford.   Your contribution is tax-deductible charitable donation. Thank you!

Please make your donation by Friday, June 25 in order to be listed on the event  handbill.

  1. You can mail a check payable to: Crozet Board of Trace and send it to: CBT, P.O. Box 863, Crozet, VA 22932.  Please put  “CIDC donation” on the memo line.
  2. You can contribute right now, online, by clicking on this link:  Donate to CIDC through Network for Good
  3. Please put “CIDC donation” in the Designation box.
  4. Thank you for your generous support!

It takes a village – won’t you help out on Saturday, July 3 for an hour?

We need your help for just an hour or two on Saturday, July 3rd.   Below is the website to sign-up to help with the Crozet Independence Day Celebration (CIDC) between 5PM to 10PM (or help pick up the park on Sunday). There are a variety of tasks and time slots. Most of the time slots are only an hour – so there’s lots of ways to help and still enjoy the event.

To sign up, please click here!

When you sign-up it will ask for your name, email and, optionally phone number.  No one else can see your email and phone.  We promise we won’t share it.  It’s helpful for us to have it if something happens and we need to let you know about a last minute change.

We urge church groups, civic and neighborhood associations to sign-up.  Crozet Trails Crew already has volunteered to staff one spot the whole evening!  Let’s see which group can have the most volunteers!

With your help, we can make this Crozet Independence Day celebration the best ever!

Review Crozet Master Plan Draft Conservation Recommendations

Review Crozet Master Plan
Draft Conservation Recommendations

Since September 2019, Albemarle County has been exploring, alongside the Crozet community, how to best reflect the community’s vision for future development in the latest update to the Crozet Master Plan. This month, we’ve focused on sharing the draft conservation recommendations that have been developed based on feedback gathered over the past 16 months.
The draft guiding principle for the Conservation chapter is to “Enhance Crozet’s natural beauty, existing natural resources, and the surrounding rural areas with an integrated network of parks and gathering spaces, trails, and greenways that support outdoor recreation and natural resources conservation.”
We invite you to share your feedback with our project team. Community feedback will be shared with the Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors as part of the review process. The Board of Supervisors will provide final direction and approval on the Crozet Master Plan.
Click the buttons below to read the draft or share feedback. The questionnaire will be open from February 22nd – March 10th, 2021. You may also submit your comments directly to Rachel Falkenstein, Planning Manager rfalkenstein@albemarle.org.

What Is a Master Plan?
A Master Plan is a collaboratively developed document that describes a community’s vision for future development, using text, maps, and diagrams. In Albemarle County, Master Plans are used to guide future public and private development and to coordinate and prepare more detailed plans.
Master Plan Update Process
The public participation process for the Crozet Master Plan includes four phases:
  • Phase 1 focuses on updating the community’s vision and guiding principles that lay the foundation for the Master Plan document.
  • Phase 2 involves Focus Area Input and Design Strategies. During this phase, staff works with the community to identify specific recommendations and associated updates to maps on the topics of Character/Land Use, Connectivity/ Transportation, Conservation/ Parks & Green Systems, and Implementation.
  • Phase 3 (current phase) consists of a period of plan drafting, refinement, and endorsements.
  • Phase 4 will take the Final Master Plan Draft through public comment, public hearings, and approval processes.

Voting in Albemarle County

Cast your Vote Early In-Person through Saturday, October 31st

With just one week until Election Day, Albemarle County voters are encouraged to explore the option of voting early in-person. Voters interested in this option have until 5 pm on Saturday, October 31st to cast an early in-person vote.

Residents can vote early in-person at the County Office Building at 1600 5th Street Conference Room A at the following times:

  • Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8:30 am to 5 pm
  • Tuesdays from 7 am to 5 pm
  • Thursdays from 8:30 am to 7 pm
  • Saturday, October 31 from 9 am to 5 pm

This experience is very similar to voting in person on Election Day – you’ll be checked in using the electronic pollbooks, given a ballot and sent to mark it, and then you’ll feed your marked ballot into a scanner which will count your vote. Usually, the entire process takes around 10 minutes.

Anyone voting in-person at any time should remember to wear a face covering and to keep six feet of distance from other voters. Enhanced cleaning protocols are in place to keep you and others safe while casting your vote.

If you haven’t already, make a plan to vote!

Book a Free Ride to the Polls with Jaunt

Jaunt has temporarily expanded its service in urban Albemarle County to provide rides to the polls, fare-free. You can reserve a ride to the polls, either on Election Day or to vote early, by calling 434-297-2627 or by emailing trips@ridejaunt.org. Due to COVID-19, Jaunt buses are operating at reduced capacity, drivers and passengers are required to wear cloth face coverings, and vehicles are cleaned and disinfected daily.

Drop your Mail Ballot Off at 5th Street or the New Location at Albemarle High School

This week, the Albemarle County Registrar’s office is operating a mail ballot drop box at the Albemarle High School Parking Lot on Hydraulic Road in addition to the drop box located at the County Office Building on 5th Street. Albemarle County voters may drop their completed mail ballots at either location during the specified dates and times below.

This additional location will operate during the last week before the election (October 26 – October 30) only and will be staffed by three Albemarle County Election Officers who will then bring the dropped-off ballots to the Registrar’s Office to be counted.

Mail-In Ballot Drop Box at Albemarle High School

  • Monday (10/26), Wednesday (10/28) and Friday (10/30), 8 am– 11 am
  • Tuesday (10/27) & Thursday (10/29), 2 pm – 5 pm

Mail-In Ballot Drop Box at County Office Building on 5th Street

Important Reminders:

  • We will only accept ballots from Albemarle County voters.
  • Make certain that your marked ballot is placed in envelope B and envelope B is inserted in your Ballot return envelope before dropping it in the box.
  • This location will be open ONLY at the times and days listed above. If these times are not convenient, you can use the drop-box at the County Office Building at 1600 5th Street, which is available 24 hours a day and every day of the week until 7 pm on Election Day, November 3rd. These are the only drop-off locations authorized before Election Day. Do not leave your mail-in ballot envelope at any other location, at any other time or place.
  • On Election Day, all 30 polling places in the county will also have a Mail-In Ballot Box for your Mail-In Ballot envelope until 7 pm on November 3rd, 2020. Voters may drop off their Mail-In Ballots at any county polling place location on Election Day.

Ways to Vote

There are three options to cast your vote in the upcoming November 2020 General Election.
By Mail

  • Applications for mail-in ballots are now closed.
  • Mail-in ballots must be mailed in to the Voter Registration Office or personally delivered to the Voter Registration Office by November 3. However, we recommend returning them as soon as possible.
  • Track your ballot online .

Early In-Person

  • Starting Friday, September 18 through Saturday, October 31, registered voters can vote early in-person in Conference Room A at the 5th Street County Office Building at 1600 5th St.
  • Voters will present acceptable ID, get checked in on the electronic pollbooks, be handed a ballot, and directed to a ballot marking booth; the voter will mark the ballot, and then insert it into a DS200 ballot scanning machine. Curbside voting will also be available.
  • Hours for early in-person voting are:
  • Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8:30 am to 5 pm
  • Tuesdays from 7 am to 5 pm
