VDOT is holding a public information session to share three design concepts for the southern interchange which would be built between St. Anne's-Belfield School and UVa's Darden School.
VDOT meeting on Western Bypass interchange concepts
Thursday, May 23
5 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
Holiday Inn Charlottesville (University Area)
1901 Emmet Street
Written and oral comments will be taken at the meeting. Written comments may also be submitted by June 3, 2013 to Hal Jones, Project Manager, Virginia Department of Transportation, 1601 Orange Road, Culpeper, Va., 22701. Emailed comments should be sent to 29bypassinterchange@VDOT.Virginia.gov; please put “Route 29 Charlottesville Bypass Southern Interchange” in the subject line.
This is an important opportunity for the public to see the latest design concepts and to provide input on this road project. Most of our who commute from Crozet (and west) to Charlottesville will be affected by this – not just the construction, but the ultimate design. For example, I think it's important to request the design retain BOTH entrances onto the Northbound 250/29 bypass from 250 West, as well as BOTH southbound exits. Those of us who commute between Charlottesville and Crozet (and points west) know how backed-up this intersection at BellAir gets each afternoon.
In addition, as you have may have experienced with the I-64 Afton construction, I think we also need to request that closures be limited to outside of rush hour times.
