Household Hazard Waste Amnesty Days

The Rivanna Solid Waste Authority's  Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collection Event for Friday, March 6, 2015 has been cancelled. HHW will be accepted at the Ivy Material Utilization Center (IMUC) located at 4576 Dick Woods Road, Charlottesville, VA 22903 during the extended hours of 8:30 am to 4:00 pm on Saturday, March 7, 2015 (originally advertised from 9:00 to 2:00).  All vehicles in line at 4:00 pm will be served. 

Also Commercial Hazardous Waste Collection scheduled for Friday, March 6, 2015, has been cancelled. The next Commercial Collection will be October 2.

The event is open to residents of Charlottesville City and Albemarle County. Hazardous materials exist in our homes in many seemingly innocent forms such as paints and stains, cleansers and polishes, motor oil and antifreeze, and pesticides and herbicides, to name only a few. Three additional amnesty collection days will be held for the following items at the Ivy Material Utilization Center between 8:30 AM to  4:00 PM, on these Saturdays:

  • Furniture/Mattresses on Saturday, March 14, 2015
  • Appliances on Saturday, March 21, 2015
  • Tires on Saturday, March 28, 2015
